Jewelry worn during
this period was BIG and there was a back to Nature trend as well
as metal sculptures and novelty jewelry. During the later half of
the 1970's there was an influx of red, white and blue jewelry due
to the Bicentennial in 1976. Avon and Sarah Coventry were still
very popular as was a revamp of the Deco look. During the 1980's
there was a Vintage explosion and jewelry made from various plastics.
The 1980's also brought us back to the REAL look...implementing
CZ's and lots of glitz. |

1974 Mimi di N Gold Seahorse Belt Buckle. The buckle is stamped with the date and Mimi di N. Measures 3-1/4 x 3-1/4". Mimi di Niscemi was born in Palermo, Italy. She studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Arts which allowed her to work part-time for a jewelry manufacturer who produced Schiaparelli jewelry. Her skill afforded her the opportunity to work with Dutch silversmith Rudolph Broom at the Wichita Art Association. She won a scholarship to the School of Applied Arts in Paris. In the 1950s she formed a partnership with Arnold Scaasi and produced pieces marked Jewels by Scaasi. In 1959 she joined Robert DeMario but soon moved to the New York bead house Brania where she made jewels marked Brania/Mimi di N. She opened her own jewelry firm in 1960 in New York City. This one is a rare find and is in excellent condition.

Swoboda 1970's Clamper Bracelet with a seashell and a single pearl. Swoboda Inc. was known for top of the line jewelry using natural gemstones, shells and materials set in gold plated metal. During the 70's popular jewelry designs continued a back to nature trend which was started in the late 1960s with the hippies. Real shells were used in addition to wood, fibers and ceramics. This bracelet is typical of the period. There is a real shell set in to look the head of a snake. A pearl is set off to the side. This Clamper bracelet has a hole on the side of 'snake head' and a knob on the tail for holding it closed.

1980's Big, Bold, Gold Tone Swirl And Pave Crystal Bracelet with Red, Blue and Green Cabochons, in a door knocker style. This bracelet measures 7-1/2" and is 1- 1/3" wide, and sets up about 1/4" off the wrist. It is heavy and very ornate with swirls, pave set austrian crystals, and cabochon cut (smooth) glass ovals on the sides of the links in ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green. This piece depicts the 'Real Look' of the 1980s where companies produced inexpensive versions of designs based on European French and Italian styles. Hallmarked with a D for Diamond-ite International, Inc, NY, NY. Very good to excellent condition.

1980s Enamel Floral Pin. Signed on the back... I can't make out the name. The pin is gold tone based with green enamel leaves, black enamel base and clear rhinestones glued in. 1970-1980 Posy Pin - Hand Blown Glass Stick Pin on Original Card. The card has a tear but is all there. Pin never worn. This came with an estate lot of jewelry from the 1970's. The card says it is by Two's Company - Pick A Posy, Wear It All Day. The back shows a tag from Waterloo Gardens and the original price of $7.50. The Glass Bulb measures 2" x 5/8" at it's longest point. This is attached to a silvertone stickpin. Never worn.

1970's Brushed Goldtone and Black Plastic Cab Brooch. Black marquis shaped plastic cabs are set into the bottom in a swirling pattern. The top is brushed goldtone leaves each with a tiny black bead set in. The large center cab is black plastic. This measures 2-1/2" in diameter. Excellent condtion. Great for that business suit or blazer!

Large 1970's Faux Ivory Goldtone Elephant Pin/Pendant. Measures a whopping 3-1/2 wide x 2" high. The faux ivory is a heavy plastic adorned with goldtone tusk, ears, saddle, tail and the bottoms of the feet. Really neat piece! The back is goldtone with a loop for a chain so this was also worn as a necklace. Excellent condition.

These appear to be handmade and signed with silver ink though I can't make out the name. there is multi-colored rhinestone chain attached to a concave disk. In the center is a black plastic cab. 1970's 'Nixon' Penny Pierced Post Earrings. I remember the shrunken penny which was popular during the Nixon years - it represented our economy. The date on these is 1977. These earrings have a ring 5/8" in diameter with the penny dangling in the center. The penny measures about 5/16" in diameter. These dangle 1-1/4". Excellent condition.

1980's Sterling Mermaid riding Dolphin Crystal Ball Necklace. The pendant is marked on the back STERLING and hallmarked with an S and a vertical line through it like a dollar sign. The faceted crystal ball glistens with many colors. Measures 1-1/2" x 1". The sterling rope chain measures 17". Excellent condition.

1970's Avon Textured Goldtone Choker and Clipback Earrings. Almost like a 'frosted' finish to the goldtone with diamonds of shiny goldtone in between. Choker measures adjustable to 14-1/2" x 1/2" and the clip back earrings measure 7/8" in diameter. Monet and Trifari made similar pieces during the 70's. Excellent condition.

1970's Pit and Nut Necklace. I was told the flat pieces are some sort of Vegetable Ivory, and I've no clue what the other two are. the small ones look like some sort of pit. Vintage 1970's Accessocraft NYC Magnifying Glass Necklace. Accessocraft - 1935 - 1996. You will find collectors and dealers proudly wearing their Accessocraft magnifying glass necklaces in Goldtone dangling from a chain at Antique shows. In the 80's and 90's the company produced jewelry designs of Pauline Trigere and Anne Klein. This beauty is long in length...approx. 38" long. I must say I'm a lover of Lucien Piccard and the design is quite similiar. The magnifying plus solid rope design is 4" long. The glass is is about 1-1/2" in diameter. The chain measures 30". Very good condition. A very hard to find piece!

Handknotted pink colored quartz round beads with a gorgeous focal bead which is carved rose quartz. 6 small gold color spacer beads and two twisted gold beads bring attention to the carving.The carved bead is 1-1/4" long. The round beads are about 3/8" in diameter or 9mm. Measures 32" and is in excellent condition.
