It was fascinating watching the swinging style of the 1950's, slip in to the radical changes and diversity of the 1960's. Mini Skirts, Slave Bracelets, Bright and Bold Flowers and lots of plastic. Let's not forget the Peace Symbols. (-: I still have MINE in 14k gold! And mood rings and love beads and remember when things were MOD? BIG jewelry was IN, as was Roman coin jewelry, snake bracelets and long chains. Non traditional materials were used in the 1960's and Lucite and Plexiglas, were fashioned into Mod jewels. Large Bib Necklaces, shoulder duster length earrings and glittering rhinestones were the fashion. Towards the end of the 1960's metals chain were really 'in' and designers like Kenneth Jay Lane, Lucien Piccard, Panetta, Hobe, Boucher and many others produced these in their particular designs. Chain were everywhere! Everything seemed amplified in size...and lots of fun, colorful jewelry was worn by most. |

Rare Panetta Vermeil Open Worked Buckle Ring. This is a stunner! It has the look of REAL gold and diamonds. In 1945, Panetta opened his own company in New York City. Panetta designs ranged from rhinestone encrusted art deco styles to enameled figurals and always have exquisite detail. Panetta upheld a tradition of quality and prided himself on copying the fine look with the utmost detail. if a piece didn't look real, it went back to the drawing board. Panetta jewelry has equaled and frequently exceeded the look of their Platinum and Gold counterparts and as a result, many affluent clients chose to wear Panetta designs instead of precious jewelry. Panetta pieces were never cheap, even new. this, coupled with the rarity in the secondary market due to limited production runs, has made all Panetta jewelry very collectible. The company was sold in the 1980’s and the Japan company closed it down in 1995. This ring has a wide band 3/8" and it's marked inside Panetta and sterl shank. The ring is a size 5. The buckle part is white gold in color and has tiny faux diamonds. When I bought this, I actually thought it was REAL! Excellent condition. SEE SIDE VIEW SEE SIDE VIEW
