According to Lillian Baker's 100 Years of Collectible Jewelry. Screw backs were introduced in very early 1900s and were popular 1908 to 1930s. After 1930 the ear clip was introduced and it became popular though with lots of wearers the screw back remained the favorite.
The pierced hook type were the first and were usually hollow gold, then came the wire post type. The latter were after 1900. |

Most likely these are Czech in origin... but there is no marking. These are molded glass beads in various shapes...they remind you of walnuts in the color and design. In amongst these pretty molded beads are Brick colored beads in various shapes. This measures about 16" and is in excellent condition. Spring Clasp.
NU149 Price: $46.00

1920's Deco era Pink Beads of
various shapes and shades of pink at the end of opalescent
pink beads. This is a SHORT strand and only measures 13" and so it's
most likely for a young lady or very small neckline. I'd highly recommend
restringing...and at that point you could lengthen this with a few nice
spacer beads. These beads are gorgeous and sure to please any bead lover
and well worth the effort of restringing. (If you want restringing,
I can recommend someone to do it for you...so don't worry about WHO
can do this. The cost will be reasonable too.) Here is a
closeup of the BEADS.

Vintage Guilloche Enamel Pin. This is my latest 'mystery' Pin. I believe it's from the 1920s Egyptian Revival. The Guilloche enamel work is beautiful...green in the background, red, cobalt blue, soft yellow and cyan. The design is quite intricate. Looks to be a bird with a snake around it? Not quite sure. I believe it's brass based and it has a C clasp. I researched this one for a long time and came up with nothing. There is no mark. Measures 1-1/2" in diameter. Very good condition. No damage to the enamel. The colors are much more vivid than the picture shows.

1910-1930 Painted Porcelain Pin. I'm not sure if this is a transfer with touches of paint or just a transfer or just a painting! I do know the gold around the rim is handpainted. It is a Victorian man trying to woo a woman. Hues of color in the background - orange and blue? Excellent condition to the porcelain. The back appears to have been resoldered? Not sure... it has gold coloring around the joins of the hinge and C Clasp. 1-3/8" x 1". Very pretty pin!

I've researched and researched and the only thing I can come up with for this pin is that it is a low end Art Nouveau item. According to Roseann Ettinger Popular Jewelry 1840-1940, "The new craftsman preferred the use of glass and semiprecious stones. There became a movement for man against machine and an apparent craft revival." The stone in THIS pin is identical to the stone shown in the pin in her book. I welcome any further information you may have to offer in regards to this stone. The pin is handset in an openbacked silver metal. It's pronged all the way around. C Clasp. Measures about 1" by 1/2" high. Excellent condition.
